Cold up here, -10 this morning. Headed to Hawaii for some sun. Looking for some island music to get me in the groove. Does anyone have or know where to find Brudda Iz recordings?
Heads always know where to find what you are looking for.
Thanks in advance,
AK

As a resident of Hawaii I can tell you that you will have no problem finding his "Official" CD's in the stores. He is the number 1 selling artist here. I don't think you will find too much Iz concert recordings either solo or with his original band the Makaha Sons of Nii'ihau though. Bruddah Iz died in '97 and I don't think people recorded his shows much when he was alive. In death he is sort of an icon over here. His body was laid in state at the Hawaii State Capitol like they would for a governer or something. They flew the State flag at half mast. It was kind of like when Jerry died.

Be sure to check out my favorite Iz CD's "Facing Future", "E'ala E'a" and "Iz In Concert" (All of them are good though.) The early stuff with the Makaha Sons is sweet too! There are a couple nice DVD's as well. Aloha
